As "Taps" was sounded in Forest Hill Cemetery in
Kansas City, Missouri, on February 17, 1897, the soldiers who loved him most,
paid their respects. A colorful character in the history of Missouri and well
acclaimed as the most expert cavalry leader of the Trans-Mississippi, never
giving up, and so it was with his struggle with death. Included is family
information and the passing of JO’s beloved Betty. From newspaper accounts as
